Established by Jennifer Findlay in 2005, Core Essence’s sole purpose then and throughout the next decade was as a home for passion projects — various initiatives in the health and wellness sector that tugged at Jennifer’s heart strings, where she hoped she could make a difference. Throughout this time, Jennifer continued to hone her skills in spa operations and management with some of the world’s leading hospitality organizations, including Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. In 2015, Core Essence experienced a surge in organic growth — resorts with significant pain points began approaching, looking to repair and revitalize their spa businesses. These businesses were seeking new ways to solve their financial and operational challenges, and to ultimately improve the guest experience.
With the vision for the future of the business becoming clear, the missing link was Jennifer’s sister Kathryn, an Interior Designer by trade. Kathryn had spent the last decade obtaining her Master’s Degree and working for various Architecture and Design Firms in both New York City and Toronto. Before coming together, the two frequently shared their experiences and observations of missed opportunity due to environments disconnected from their operational function. Joining together as partners in 2017, their diverse yet complimentary skill sets come together to strengthen the ability of Core Essence to truly fulfil the full lifecycle of a project, all under one roof. Kathryn oversees the creative direction for Core Essence, and leads all aspects of design for clients, within and beyond the spa.
